Born in China and shipped out to Malaya at tender age. 1946: Enrolled at King Edward VII Medical College in Singapore. Graduated in 1952.
Post-graduate training for a year in Singapore and then Seremban government hospital until 1956, when the crucial step to enter private practice was made.
Medical practice among the community gave the opportunity to meet people and to understand their social and political problems.
It provided the rational and impetus for venturing into the political arena. Thereafter my life and soul was devoted to the party.
